gel makes it hard and wax makes it spikier and last longer but too much makes it look greasy, pomade like murrays works the best for spiky hair but its hard to get out

Wax because jell ends up getting all flakey..And wax holds longer and makes your hair more flexable...But at the same time staying in place...

You can use both. Try using wax first and then some gel Garnier Fructis Bold It! Endurance Gel and Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Shine Gel are the best and cheapest gels. For wax, I would recommend the Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Shine wax.
