Does aloe vera hair gel make hair look wet?

i used tons of stuff but none ever worked without either drying out or getting flaky. does aloe vera hair gel work to make my hair look wet/moisturised? i wanna wear my hair out sometimes but its so dry all i can do is tie it back.

i am a mix between african-american and polish so i have dark brown curly hair which is about 5 inches down my back..about. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?! =]
