I kinda have this asian little very mini afro going on and it's not the afro african americans have. I can shape my mini afro, but gel doesn't usually do the job because it gets too sticky and it doesn't look natural and is too shiny. I usually get the shape i want when i wear a hat then take it off, my hair gets all together and looks good. But I want a hair product that will keep my hair like that all the time. So pleasse if anyone know lol.. and where i can buy it and price.. Thank you!

I use Bumble and Bumble products exclusively but they may be hard to come by. Really, any pomade or texturizer will do. The Bead Head Manipulator that was mentioned is one brand's example.

Go to any drugstore, beauty supply shop, or salon and buy a pomade or texturizer. Start by rubbing a small amount in your hands to warm it up, then apply where you want in your hair. Only you know the thickness and texture of your hair, so start light and add more if needed. As long as you don't put gobs of it in your hair it looks completely natural and provides excellent definition.

You can pay anything from a few dollars to $25. Most any brand will work well for you, as they're all a lot alike.

OMG, there's this one gel that's good for gelling your hair into anything. It's this huge tub of gel, costs extremely cheap. It's called "La Bella". That stuff is the best gel you can possibly get. My son doesnt use gel, he uses this really cool stuff called molding glue by Regis. You can only get it from a salon, but any salon should have it. Its about 10-15 bucks. It is made specailly for holding up spikes :O)

Firstly, Hair Gel dosent directly cause hair loss. Hair drys and damages ur hair, which "Can" cause some hairfall, but not due to scalp problems. Due to brittle hair, hair breakage.

You shudnt apply oil on wet hair. Its bad for ur scalp. I dont know if that will result on dandruff or not, but i know it will clogg ur pores in the scalp and ur scalp wont be able to breath. so you might get a lotta hair problems due to that.

you'll have a better chance of losing your hair if you use heat products in the morning. keeping gel on at night is obviously a bad decision... gel is shiny and heavier than wax/clay. wax/clay is light and sculpts very well without a shine and it won't be as flaky. if you're going to keep something in your hair at night, i'd suggest wax/clay rather than gel.

The high alchohol content of most styling gels will dry your hair out over time. Mousse would be a better option if you want to keep it in your hair overnight. You should only do this a couple nights a week at most though.

I don't use gel; I use mousse. I found that gel can actually dry out your hair more and damage it. I use Tresemme Mousse Extra Hold. It works really well, and your hair doesn't have the wet look. hi! my hair kinda tends to frizz after i wash it so i haveee* to u somehting before i go to school and all. i would recommend wax. go to a salon and buy wax around $20. the cheap $5 ones dont hold ur hair as well and as long. wax is great because it makes ur hair look soft like natural hair w/o any stuff in it, and it gives hair great control as gel does but with out the flaking and stiffness, and that hard plasticy look.

p.s- moose doesnt give as much control as wax does, moose also tends to die out on you fast. and got 2 be is a great gel, however i dont think this is what your looking for b.c it makes ur hair REAL hard and its meant for spiking. also palmade is not good because its meant for making your hair look shiny and silky. it all depends on the quality of the hair gel and the amount you put on. in my opinion i think hair gel is a necessity and make your hair look neat and professional, it also keeps your hair dry free and keeps your hair do looking fresh, but just make sure you don't go over broad and make your hair wet and silk down cause that is a hair no no.

I'm not sure about future problems, but if you have thin hair already, I find gel looks pretty awful. There's this guy who works at a store near me who has thin hair and gels it up all the time, and I can see that he's balding and it looks just awful, worse than if he were to just comb it normally (he twirls it up into spikes). Also, gel seems to cause more dandruff -- and build up and dry scalp aren't that great for hair growth I don't think... although I'm not positive on that one. Anyhow... if you don't have thin hair, I'm sorry, cause my answer is mostly just a warning to not use gel if you have thin hair already.

Short answer is NO. Hair falls out from roots. Hair can break off from too much gel making hair stiff, then when combed or brushed, weak hairs will break. Falling out and breaking off are two different things.

My hair...sorta sucks. It's unimaginably difficult to comb down so I've resorted to gelling it. Unfortunately, my "technique" (which consists of wetting hair, coming back with gel and touching up the front) gets worse the farther down my head I go and I end up with an "ok" front and an inconceivably murdered 'somewhat angled section between the top and back of head where everything seems to stick up in the most random of directions and generally looking rather...bad.'

Use a conditioner like Pantene pro-v or tresseme. Use a styling pomade instead of the gel- cause your thick hair helps weigh down the heavy gel. Not many people I know use gel. Try switching your products like I've mentioned and consider getting your hair trimmed- (if it could use it). And the result will be: Your Hair Looking Way Fly brotha!

well i do hair so i'm a bit critical...but when i can tell your hair is crunchy and its not moving even if there is a tornado then its no good! you can get some great products now a days really used only be gel and sticky waxes....paul mitchell has this awesome stick wax that you don't have to get all messy and once applied is hardly sticky to the touch.

i think as long as it isn't rock hard, crunchy or isn't greasy too the touch...you can spike it, slick it back, whatever! a little goes a long way and if you go to a salon to buy your products i'm sure a hairstylist will have no problem showing you the correct amount or what to use.

Gel can make your hair crusty, try using a forming cream. American Crew has Forming Cream or Redken has a product named Manuever. I am a stylist and 50% of my clients are men. Every girl is going to like something different as you have already read. If you are wearing a buzz, don't use product, it will just make your hair look thin and balding. If you want to grow out the top a bit, wear it messy on top, using a cream. Find a stylist at a salon, (not a 10min. haircut place), one that you think has style, ask for her reccomendation, and once you get the right cut, ask her how to style it. The key is to use water soluable product! If you use proffessional gel etc- it should wash out no problem.

They probably just meant you cant have dyed hair, or something in a crazy glued up spike.

I would recommend using a hair cream/paste instead of gel, it looks more natural and isnt as "shiny" I doubt they would be able to tell you have any on and your hair would still hold it's shape.

Slick it back (not super crunchy or greasy because that's gross) and wear it confidently. Not cocky, but confident. If you are uncomfortable it will show on your face and that is not attractive. When you get out of the shower, put your hair in a towel and let it dry for about 20 minutes. Then, if you're prone to frizz, comb a dollop of Frizz Ease through your hair. Get thee some Herbal Essences Totally Twisted gel and comb a bit through your hair, focusing on the length, not the scalp, otherwise it will look oily or wet. When the weather is hot, at this point I'd just gather my hair up in a messy claw clip and then when it's dry, I take it down and voila, curls! Since it's Winter now, I tend to add some Herbal Essences Totally Twisted mousse, flip my head over, and work the mousse through. You can scrunch by just making that scrunching motion with your hands, and blowdry by flipping your head every which way for maximum volume. That's what I do and my hair is lookin' pretty dang good!

What you're looking for is Pomade or Hair wax. There should be plenty of different kinds in your local Pharmacy. I use Special FX Molding Wax, but if you look at hair care you'll find many others. Don't buy anything in a squeezable tube, look for an item in a plastic tub or jar. Don't be afraid to open a jar up and smell it/feel it. It should have the consistency of Elmer's Paste, like the kind from grade school.

Gel is a huge no-no! I suggest Big Sexy Hair (Spray Volumizing Mist). If you spray all over your tresses and then scrunch your hair you get the hot beach/sex hair look.

well no shampoo has magic curl making ingredient, but some bring out natural curl. here are some tips:

use sunsilk for curly hair. shampoo and conditioner.

apply shampoo directly on scalp and lather for about 2 minutes working your way down hair at the very end.

apply conditioner. start from bottoms and work your way up. make sure it doesnt touch scalp because that could cause dandruff.

towel dry hair very well but dont rub hair together with towel. creates frizz and damages hair's structure.

apply briosilk oil starting from bottoms working your way up. this will help set natural curls.

to dry: brush hair ONCE ONLY then put in bun but instead of holding with elastic put giant hair claw. this will create flawless look.

good luck on htis. first time will be fabulous. if u keep doing this your hair will get more natural curl and will go away from being plain old straght. toodles!

Spiking your hair is ok as long as the gel doesn't get out of hand. Crunchy or greasy looking hair is a major turn off.

I personally like guys in t's but some guys can pull off a polo really well.
