How to stop hair gel from flaking in your hair?

I have been spiking my hair for a few years now using gel , but people just love to touch it, and then it goes flaky. Does anybody know how to stop it from flaking?

Well you may already of figured this out but your probably using too much gel. That may be the point of your style though? Have you tried changing the type of gel your using to see if you can get the same effect from a different gel that maybe holds better and you can use less product? If you have an Ulta salon near you or a Robyn Todd or Trade Secret salon or something similar (a salon that carries a wide variety of products/just as much a store for products maybe a little less focus on the salon) try stopping in and asking about different gels or holding products. You may even luck out maybe they'll have some samples you can test out. (Ask if they have any.) There are also new holding products called waxes they may do what you want without the flaking. Seriously hard to answer without seeing your style. Good luck.

You kind of missed the point the asker says - "people just love to touch it, and then it goes flaky."

Sounds like the asker isn't touching their spiked hair on purpose. And yea, too much hair gel contributes to the flaking...
