It depends if you have an oily scalp or a dry scalp. If you have an oily scalp you would use less hair oil or if you have a dry scalp you would use more hair oil.

I have very curly hair and use spray gel. It has the advantage of gel (controlling frizz and maintaining curl) but your hair won't get all sticky/oily. Try Loreal's Tightly Wound Curl Boosting spray gel or Aussie's spray gel.

First shampoo with a simple 'Suave Daily Claryifing Shampoo.' 1.99 at drugstores. That makes your hair very very soft. Then try using 'Bumble %26amp; Bumble' 6.00 at drugstore. It is in a golden can. Spray that where you want shine. If you cant find that, look around the hair products isle.

try a pomade or wax. american crew have so good ones that aren't sticky or greasy and don't make your hair hard as a rock. it's actually soft still.

if u want a shine and non-greasy look u'll have to oil it.if u hate oil,like me,then use it only once aweek.keep the oil on for half an hour then wash u r hair twice and use a conditioner.try keeping u r hair protected from the sun when u go out,like wear caps,bandanas and scarves and comb ur hair very often.wash ur hair just before the party,use conditioner and don't dry u r hair too much,just get the dripping water off!
