How long can I leave hair gel in my hair? I can only wash my damaged hair every 3 days?

My hair is damaged, so I can only wash it every 3 or 4 days. I have short, broken hairs that I want to hold down with gel until they grow in. Are there any problems with keeping gel or mousse in my hair for 3 or 4 days until I wash it again?

Also, what products gels, mousse, etc, do you guys recommend for these small broken hairs?

Just because your hair is damaged dosen't mean you can't wash it. If a professional told you not to, than don't. But I suggest that you wash it at least every other day. If you are worried about it getting even more damaged use a good moisturzing/repairing shampoo and conditioner like Dove Advanced Care Therapy. Together (shampoo and conditioner) there is only one alcohol in it.

It is ok to keep gel or mousse in your hair for 3-4 days, but you should probably but a little bit in between, like the second or third day. You should probably also use a good clarifying shampoo once every 10 days to remove build up.

the gel can be damaging it, stop using it and get a good conditioner. There are holding creams that are less damaging than the gel, I know of one by Sunsilk. Its non-greasy and non-sticky

it is ok to leave it in, just make sure any products you use are alcohol free , or it will just dry and damage your hair further. I also have naturally dry hair,about every ten days or so I do a hot oil treatment which I leave in over night and that really makes a difference.
