Girls! Hair Gel on guys? Yes or no?

I used to use a lot of gel to spike up my hair but I didn't get many second looks from girls, even thought girls say they like short hair with the bangs flicked up.

I've since got a buzz cut (which girls say they don't like) but I get a lot more second looks from girls. I thought at first it was the buzz cut they liked, but I'm starting to think they just didn't like the gel.

So do you like gel in guys hair..or does it look a bit metrosexual?

i don't mind the gel in guys hair but i prefer the skater look but not the gay hair past the shoulder...and buzz cuts r ok too i guess...

it depends. depends on how it's done etc. but you should do it because You like it, not because of girls. trust me, one day theres gonna be a girl that loves everything about you whether your head is bald or shaggy. some guys can pull of any kind of look. if you like your buzz cut leave it. or try more of a surfer look, because its less hassle [my brother has that look, and its not too long its just shaggy and its cute!] but do as You please, best of luck%26lt;3

Girls like "well groomed". If it LOOKS like you have a lot of gel, that's not a good thing. You can use gel but don't make it look like it.

Girls like the image of confidence more than the actual "look" of a guy. Sure, they may make comments of how a guy looks but it's a subconscious thing to first notice someone.

Hair Gel is awful on a guy. It is girl stuff. I think spikey hair is juvenile. And I like a nice buzz cut on some guys.

well i do hair so i'm a bit critical...but when i can tell your hair is crunchy and its not moving even if there is a tornado then its no good! you can get some great products now a days really used only be gel and sticky waxes....paul mitchell has this awesome stick wax that you don't have to get all messy and once applied is hardly sticky to the touch.

i think as long as it isn't rock hard, crunchy or isn't greasy too the touch...you can spike it, slick it back, whatever! a little goes a long way and if you go to a salon to buy your products i'm sure a hairstylist will have no problem showing you the correct amount or what to use.

metrosexual too me is when guys are spending more time getting mani/pedi's, mirror time, shower time than me! you can tell-there's a difference of when a man is trying to be stylish and groomed well compared to my regular who is getting a brow/body wax every 2 weeks, mani/pedi once a month, facial/massage weekly-somethings not right there!

i think a lot of gel turns girls off because it makes hair hard and..crunchy. ew. If you grow your hair out again, I would suggest using a pomade or wax...something that will leave your hair feeling like, well...hair! Those things have amazing hold, and your hair will feel 300 times better.

Gel can make your hair crusty, try using a forming cream. American Crew has Forming Cream or Redken has a product named Manuever. I am a stylist and 50% of my clients are men. Every girl is going to like something different as you have already read. If you are wearing a buzz, don't use product, it will just make your hair look thin and balding. If you want to grow out the top a bit, wear it messy on top, using a cream. Find a stylist at a salon, (not a 10min. haircut place), one that you think has style, ask for her reccomendation, and once you get the right cut, ask her how to style it. Cream is great because it is touchable, unlike gel or greasy pomade. Hope that helps!!

Well...a lot fo my guy friends wear gel in their hair depending on how long their hair is..but then again they're asian. To me, it just depends whether or not they look good with gel in their hair. Some of my guy friend actually look good like that. It just depends on how you look with gel in ur hair. Don't take this harshly but you probably looked weird with the gel in ur hair...but if u want ur hair to spike up like that I suggest hair wax from garnier it works like gel but looks totally na-tu-rale!!! :D
