i try to spike my hair but it only stays wet spikish for 5 mins max. and then it dries up and looses the spikeyness. I have a wet look pomade, and super hold for spiking(alberto gels). Other ppl with gelled hair look normal for the rest of the day.

gel your hair when it's wet and use one of those huge vats of hair gel you get at the 99 cent store lol, they really work!

get paul mitchells brand LAB glue. it stays very well. or got2b glued its in a yellow tube. its awesome and cheaper than LAB

Try spraying your hair with some max hold hairspray after you put gel on it and spike it. Then use your hairdryer on low for a few secs and see if that works. The heat will help set it.
