Afro hair and gel?

why is when you put gel in afro hair it starrts to break whats the best gel designed for afro hair which won't break it

Afro hair and gel?

That depends on what your using the gel for. A lot of gel has alcohol in it which can be very drying for African American hair. Dry hair leads to breakage. Also, once gel is on the hair, you shouldn't mess with the hair.

To define the curls, I recommend aloe vera gel, vitamin e gel or Fantasia IC gel with sparklites.

For slick-backed styles, I recommend Lets Jam or Fantasia IC gel with sparklites..

Hope this helps.

Sally Beauty Supply has an Ethnic section. Could be that you have straightened and your straightener was a bit strong.... so anything with any amount of alcohol in it will harden and break your hair.....maybe try a wax or more pliable product.....read the ingredients and stay away from the ones that state alcohol first.

There is this gel called "Afro Shine" and you can get it at "Beauty Supply" that is a little store in the getto. So I hope you get this straight!!!!

I think that you are using gel that is made for people with straight hair, most gels that are sold in stores are not for people of color. Don't go the Sally's they do not have a good selection for African American hair. I have natural hair and I use Pro Style Gel, it's in a black container and usually has white writing on it. That gel is the best for me. They have it at Walmart, it's in the section for African American Hair, it's usually close to the You should locate the beauty/hair supply stores in your area. They have a larger selection for African American hair.
