Not necessarily, if you wash your hair everyday then the chemicals from the gel will not harm your hair or scalp. Though, if dryness does occur than use a little extra conditioner and your hair will be fine!!!! I use styling gel on my hair every day and my hair could not be more healthy!!!!!!

gels are not bad for your hair, depending on which ones you use. The stronger the hold, the worse it is for your scalp, because of the alcohol content, I can tell you that American Crew gels and pomades don't have alcohol. Most professional gels don't. hope this helps.
